Are you also reviewing other parking areas within City of Subiaco?

Yes, we reviewed the Town Centre precinct in 2023, and after this current Central precinct review the planned order of precincts for review is as follows:

    • Subiaco East
    • Subi Centro
    • Daglish/Jolimont
    • Shenton Park

Which part of the City of Subiaco is classified as the Central precinct?

The boundaries of the Central Parking Precinct are established by the south side of Bagot Road from Railway Road to Thomas Street, Thomas Street to Nicholson Road, the north side of Nicholson Road from Thomas Street to Railway Road and the east side of Railway Road from Nicholson Road to Bagot Road (see map).

Why are you revising the Central Subiaco Precinct Parking Plan?

Effective parking control encourages parking turnover in areas of high demand, reduces traffic congestion by rationalising demand, makes parking easy to find, and improves customer experience catering to the mix of users.

Since the last installment of the City's Town Centre Precinct Parking Plan (2018), there have been some changes within the Central precinct. The goal of this revised plan is to balance opportunities for residential, business, visitor and worker/commuter parking needs.

What all day parking options are available near KEMH?

There are several all day parking options in the area, ranging from $10 to $16 per day, within walking distance to the hospital. These include:

    • Railway Road Car Station - immediately adjacent to the hospital
    • Theatre Gardens Car Station - 130 metres from the hospital
    • Rowland Street Car Station - 400 metres from the hospital
    • Stubbs Terrace Car Station - 440 metres from the hospital
    • Hay Street Car Station - 500 metres from the hospital
    • Forrest Street Car Station - 500 metres from the hospital

Further all day parking is due to be installed on Hamersley Road adjacent to the Subiaco Arts Centre.

Parking is free and unrestricted across Subiaco on weekends and after 5pm on weekdays.

Hospital staff and other workers in the area may wish to speak to their employer about subsidised parking opportunities.

What happens if a patient from KEMH receives a parking infringement?

In the event that a patient attending King Edward Memorial Hospital receives a parking infringement, the City will work directly with KEMH and the Department of Health to review the matter.

If the patient was involved in a medical emergency at the time the infringement was issued, then the infringement will be withdrawn.

Patients can request a review of an infringement via the following link: https://www.subiaco.wa.gov.au/residents/in-your-street/parking/consideration-form-for-parking-infringement

Who is responsible for staff parking around KEMH?

King Edward Memorial Hospital and the Department of Health are responsible for providing parking for their patients and staff.

The City is responsible for providing and managing parking for all motorists, which include residents, visitors, businesses, patients and staff to the hospital where possible.

The City has previously communicated with executive staff from KEMH and the Department of Health of the need to provide parking for their patients and staff and have made several suggestions on how this can be accommodated.

The City will continue to advocate for KEMH to prioritise parking for its patients and to provide suitable accommodations for their staff.
