The City of Subiaco commenced the process to create a draft streetscape masterplan for the section of Rokeby Road between Bagot Road and Thomas Street in 2017.
Background
In May 2017 council resolved that “the city develop an integrated streetscape design for Rokeby Road south of Bagot Road that would enable the city to incorporate speed reducing practices”.
The aim is to create an environment which responds to the needs of the local community and surrounding businesses while slowing down vehicle traffic. This masterplan will also consider street palette and furnishing to reflect the heritage feel of the area.
In November 2017 the city opened an expression of interest for community members to be involved in the process through a series of workshops.
The City is now in the process of using these documents to prepare a Local Development Plan (LDP) on the basis of the draft streetscape masterplan, the outcomes of the Urban Design Forum, the Urban Analysis and the applicable strategic planning framework.
When completed, the draft LDP will be advertised alongside the draft Rokeby Road South Streetscape Masterplan for public comment. Once finalised these two documents will provide a holistic vision for the future of Rokeby Road South to ensure that streetscape upgrades and development projects work together to enhance the elements that people love about the area.
