Austin Street Park Playground
Consultation has concluded. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.
At the City of Subiaco we encourage community involvement to help inform our decision making and we invited you to participate in stage one consultation for Austin Street Park Playground to guide the usage for this space.
Stage two consultation is now closed for the replacement of Austin Street Park playground equipment. Four successfully shortlisted playground concepts are available to be reviewed by the community (please see the four designs in the document library to the right). Shortlisting was completed by City of Subiaco officers with consideration to the community feedback received in November 2020.
Option one
This is a traditional playground featuring a free standing double swing, free standing set of monkey bars, a multi-level cabin structure with a slide and several climbing frames. The play elements are connected with a path made of rubberised softfall surrounded by white washed sand.
Option two
This traditional style playground has an elevated play platform with a puzzle at ground level. There is also a free standing double swing with an all abilities swing. There are multiple climbing options and a freestanding set of monkey bars and a freestanding rocker.
Option three
This is a nature play style timber playground. It features a freestanding double swing over a bed of softfall timber mulch. The playground is a timber cabin with cargo climbing nets and a log scramble to climb up and a slide off one side. There are stepping logs leading in and out of the playground and a limestone wall around the edge with white washed sand as the base.
Option four
This is a nature play style playground with timber elements. A timber deck leads to a set of monkey bar style hand grips to climb. This then leads to a series of climbing webs and a balance beam. This section of playground has a sand base. There is also a set of double swings with a timber frame, this features a basket swing and a rope swing on a base of rubberised softfall. The edge of the playground is constructed with limestone blocks.
Please also see the document library to the right for further information on each design and full illustrations.
The replacement of the play equipment will be guided by community input, available budget and the City's Playspace Strategy.
Play enables children to creatively learn about themselves, other people and the world around them. The City of Subiaco values quality opportunities for play through our best practice approach to playground maintenance, inspection and provision of play spaces that provide diverse play experiences for our community.
